Giving to the Poor

I've always had a heart out for the poor; in fact I use to really engage in conversations with "wine-os" and "homeless bums" when I was in primary school (high school) really to see where they went wrong and how they ended up on the streets.

I was very curious to find out how they landed on the ground begging for pennies from kids half their age. I wanted to know so that I can avoid doing what they did. Yeah, teachers tell us and parents warn us but there is no better person to learn from than a successful homeless person.

Throughout the years I've learn a great deal; it has even inspired me to write a book (coming soon). The truth of the matter is that no matter where you go there will always be poor people. Jesus said in the bible there will always be the poor; so we just have to deal with this fact.

However, the preacher said, in Proverbs 19 verse 17, the person who has pity on the poor and gives to them is ultimately lending to the Lord. Imagine that! You are lending money to God when you give to the poor. And better than that, the Lord God will repay you again that which you gave to the poor. This is an easy and awesome thing to take advantage of.

Of course, do it with a good heart and with good intentions as the Lord is no fool! But you do get my point, that giving to the poor is something that pleases our Creator. So let's not put our noses in the air when we pass the poor in our streets, it may very well be the Lord looking at us to see if we'll lend Him a few bucks or a cup of coffee, a warm smile, or a concern look of pity wishing you could help but you have to get to work or catch the train or bus.

Pleasant day to all,

-"If you look good you feel good,
if you feel good you pray good,
if you pray good He blesses good,
if He blesses good you live good,
and if you live good, you become good, and when you are good,
and you can become god."

Psalm 82 v6
"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."
