Introduction

I remember two moments when I was in college; I was with a teammate and I was talking to young lady who he didn't know. The conversation went on and on; and finally my teammate burst in and said, "can I get an introduction?"

And I proceeded to introduce him to the young lady. On another occasion a friend of mine was with me and again I was speaking with another young lady and he burst in and said, "hey I'm Te$$el G***n."

Now the point of this is not my inability or selfishness to introduce parties to each other - we'll deal with that some other time; the point is that before any thing can happen to begin any human relationship there must be an introduction. Well you didn't need me to tell you that; most of us do it so natural that we overlook its importance.

How you are introduced makes the difference in how the relationship goes. To get a date there needs to be an introduction; we did it to meet our wives [those of us married], we did it to meet our best friends, our employers, our parents even; every one that you have a relationship with you had an introduction that established relationship
.

Well the same pattern you establish personal relationships should be the same pattern you use to establish business relationships. "Well Due, it's different in business because I'm trying to sale something." You are trying to sale something in your personal relationships too. You're trying to sale them who you are and why it's worth talking to you and being around you. "Why should I go to the school dance with you, why should I marry you, why should I hire you, why should I be around you?"

These are the same questions you answered directly or indirectly with your personal relationships - and these need to be the same questions you answer with your business relationships and customers. Why should I bank with you; why should I use your products or services; join your company etc.

When you apply the norm to your business; prospecting no longer will be called prospecting but an introduction. Tell me what you think?

All the Best,
